At Kippax Kids Playgroups our aim is to provide parents and their children a fun, safe setting to play together. We aim to enrich relationships and support each family as a special part of our whole community. It is important to us that you enjoy your time here at playgroup. Our Grandie Helpers, Convenors, Pray-ers and the Program Manager form a team to empower families to make the most of this time in their child's early formative years.

Children learn new skills

We also have our Playgroup for Blokes that meets on Wednesday afternoons 12.30-2.30pm. This group commenced in February 2003 and was especially set up for Dads (or other male carers) and their kids.

Children play

All children from birth to school age and their carers are welcome at playgroup. Our playgroup session typically consists of:

  • free-play (sand pit, bikes, water play, dress ups, etc.)
  • an activity (often craft)
  • music time (in some groups)
  • morning tea (each child brings a piece of fruit to be cut up and shared)
  • Pack-up time

Different people are rostered each week to provide an activity, morning tea for adults or to lead the music time.

'Kippax Kids' are members of the ACT Playgroups Association. The annual membership fee provides insurance, newsletters, activities and support when required. The other charge is $2 each week, which provides us with tea and coffee, craft supplies, musical instruments and other equipment. We also make a contribution to the church each term.

As a sponsor for the playgroups meeting in the Church Centre, the Kippax congregation provides a helper for each playgroup session. In most cases this is a grandparent figure that is there to assist the convenor and offer support to families by holding a baby, helping with morning tea and chatting with new families.

If you would like to be a part of our playgroups please phone our Program Manager, Children & Family Services, Sue on 6254 1733 or sue@kippax.org.au
